-
Pick up from hotel in Quito
Bike up or around the eroded volcano Ilalo, depending on the group’s preference.
Drive over the highest pass in Ecuador, observing the valley of Los Chillos and Cumbaya. Colossal volcanoes like Cotopaxi, Antisana, Pichincha, Ruminahui, el Corazon, Paso Choa, Ilalo, and Illinizas in the distance can be glimpsed en route.
As we approach the pass we will pass through the endemic dwarf-like forests of the Upper Andes.
We will then arrive at our jungle retreat in the Archidona area where a delicious meal will be served.
-
Today we will take a bike ride out to enjoy the area of Archidona with its rivers, waterfalls, natural bathing areas, petroglyph, heritage sites, communities, and local jungle market.
After some exploring, we can relax in the lodge or go out to see the nightlife at the riverfront in the town of Tena.
-
Today we will embark on a big splash whitewater raft trip out to the Upper Napo. After a safety speech and gear outfitting, we will descend 27 km of grade 3+ whitewater with large rollercoaster wave trains and deep pools for jumping out and swimming. Halfway down we will stop at a beach and visit a local community to take a look at their arts and crafts. After a buffet lunch, we will continue on our journey of whitewater rafting.
After ice creams, we will head back to our accommodation
-
Today we will bike out to the Hollin area to visit a grand waterfall cascading into one of the lower gorges. We will also pass through various communities and jungle settlements
After a full active day, we will arrive at our jungle lodge.
-
Today we will raft the Jondachi – Hollin, Jungle Gorge down to a lodge deeper in the jungle.
This remote and exciting Jungle whitewater rafting trip has become world-famous for its jungle scenery and classic Amazon-style whitewater rapids.
The raft trip starts with a safety brief and outfitting. Then we will navigate some technical whitewater on a smaller tributary called the Jondachi before reaching the larger river with its bigger rapids and gorge called the Hollin.
As we descend, we will observe many waterfalls and side streams flowing and cascading into the gorge.
This wild and scenic river has had animal sightings before if the group is quiet enough.
We will face the biggest rapid of the day called the waffle maker before finishing with a cold beverage at the end of the trip.
-
Today will be spent relaxing at the jungle lodge to take it all in. A Jungle hike will be arranged and for those interested, a night hike can also be a great way to discover the insects and jungle species.
Weather permitting, we often start up a campfire on the beach and enjoy a nightcap before settling in for the night.
-
Today we will travel back to Quito or take you on to the next destination which is often Baños for many people. We will stop for lunch before arriving at the destination. If staying in Baños we will stop at the route of the waterfalls and visit “El Pailon del Diablo”. If travelling back to Quito we will stop to visit some natural hot pools.
